What playing this feels like
This edition leans on high speed along a road wide enough for lane choice to mean something. The camera sits behind the car, showing a fair stretch ahead but never the whole route, so decisions get made in sections as the road reveals them.
The beginner's trap is holding the throttle flat the entire time, which only pays on the straights. Meet a bend or slower traffic and giving up half a second to keep the line finishes sooner than barrelling in and losing the rhythm to a collision. Average speed beats top speed in this lane, every time.
Choosing a lane early is what separates comfortable play from ordinary play. Rather than swerving at the last moment, move across while the gap is still far away; done consistently, a lap needs almost no braking at all and the time drops more than any amount of practice at braking well ever would.
